In a world where gods are petty enough to cast their own out of heaven, Synflake, a trickster god, finds himself on an unknown planet where cat-like creatures move as fast as the breeze and reptilians are enslaved to do their masters' bidding. Perkins, a member of the god's handy AI collective, is with Synflake to monitor his progress—his attempts to become worthy of reentering heaven. Meanwhile, Cody Nebulas, the brightest and most well-protected puzzler and AI designer in all the heavens, who created the Perkins Collective, is being blackmailed to alter the Collective in ways that could prove catastrophic. These two gods, separated by the bounds of heaven itself, find themselves on the same side of a mystery that could shake the very foundations of heaven itself.
